Welcome back to the News Digest. We are in week 42, so take your towel and let us dive right in!
FAIRmat
FAIRmat is the FAIR Data Infrastructure for Condensed-Matter Physics and the Chemical Physics of Solids, a consortium of the NFDI, the National Research Data Infrastructure in Germany.
Zenodo
The latest verison of NOMAD CAMELS (v1.4.3) was published to Zenodo as well as a presentation about the latest developments in FAIRmat and NOMAD, NOMAD OASIS and NOMAD CAMELS.

NFDI4Chem
NFDI4Chem is the Chemistry consortium for the NFDI, the National Research Data Infrastructure in Germany.
Published and yet disappeared?
Did you know that repositories can disappear? Which leads to the problem that research data is no longer available, even though it was published. In one of the latest articles, NFDI4Chem is focusing on the importance of an exit strategy for repositories, how to avoid data loss due to discontinued repositories and what you, as a researcher, can do to ensure your data will be available.
Enhancing Chiral Catalyst Search with Ontology Terms
NFDI4Chem is reporting on a successful collaboration between the consortium and a company, that included ontology terms through the Terminology Service of NFDI4Chem. You can read more about the collaboration and integrated ontology terms here.
Stammtisch recording published
Once a month, the NFDI4Chem has a “Stammtisch” an online talk with discussions with different guests. The talks are recorded and later published. They now published a talk from November 2023, where the PSDI (Physical Sciences Data Infrastructure) from the UK is introducing themselves, giving an overview but also discusses alignments between PSDI and NFDI (or NFDI4Chem). You can check out the video on the YouTube channel of NFDI4Chem (here).
NFDI4Earth
NFDI4Earth is the Consortium Earth System Sciences of the NFDI, the National Research Data Infrastructure in Germany.
4th Call for NFDI4Earth Educational Pilots Open
The 4th call for educational pilots by NFDI4Earth is open now. In this call, projects to produce Open Educational Resources or educational events are funded. The call focuses on earth system sciences specific teaching materials/events and not generic or general RDM materials/events. Read more about the call here.
PSDI
PSDI is the Physical Sciences Data Infrastructure in the UK.
Zenodo
In April 2024 PSDI published a data set on the topic of data accessibility in the chemical sciences. They investigated 240 organic chemistry publications from early 2024. They now have uploaded a new version of this dataset.

PUNCH4NFDI
PUNCH4NFDI is the Particles, Universe, NuClei and Hadrons for the NFDI consortium of the NFDI, the National Research Data Infrastructure in Germany.
Admission of external users
PUNCH4NFDI is opening up their services and infrastructures for testing and developing to researchers that are not part of the consortium by allowing external researchers to register at PUNCH-AAI. This is great news and opens up services like Compute4PUNCH and Storage4PUNCH. Definitely check you the article here, to get further information.
