Welcome back to the News Digest. I usually bring you the latest in research data management for the natural sciences every week, but I had to take a short detour ...  to Cologne Carnival (for the first time)! That's right - while you were busy organizing datasets, I was busy navigating a sea of costumes and confetti. Now that the festivities are over, it is time to catch up on two weeks' worth of news. So let's dive in.

FAIRmat

FAIRmat is the FAIR Data Infrastructure for Condensed-Matter Physics and the Chemical Physics of Solids, a consortium of the NFDI, the National Research Data Infrastructure in Germany.

NFDI4Chem

NFDI4Chem is the Chemistry consortium for the NFDI, the National Research Data Infrastructure in Germany.

In the past, I already mentioned the 3rd Ontologies4Chem Workshop, which was held in December 2024 (e.g. you can find the recordings of the workshops on the YouTube channel of NFDI4Chem). Now, a very detailed report on the workshop has been published. In addition, a new version of the chemoiton-converter-app has been released, as well as a report on the converter service infrastructure (a deliverable within NFDI4Chem). You can find all three updates following the links below.

PSDI

PSDI is the Physical Sciences Data Infrastructure in the UK.

A poster, which was part of the PSDI Research Data Forum 5-6 March 2025 on ELIXIR and their services and tools, was uploaded and shows where the physical sciences are supported. I want to mention here the portal for training resources in ELIXIR (TeSS), if you are unaware of this collection of training materials, check it out.

PUNCH4NFDI

PUNCH4NFDI is the Particles, Universe, NuClei and Hadrons for the NFDI consortium of the NFDI, the National Research Data Infrastructure in Germany.

Latest newsletter

The latest newsletter was published, which you can find, following the link below. It is a great and short overview of what has happened in PUNCH4NFDI and the NFDI in the last few months. So check it out and refresh your memory. I want to highlight that the consortium is offering a helpdesk now, where you can ask all your questions about the tools and services of PUNCH4NFDI (like, Compute4PUNCH or Storage4PUNCH).

The FAIR Elephant

Learn more about the offering and services that I offer through The FAIR Elephant here.

That is it with the news, but I want to close with some remarks about myself. As mentioned before, in 2025 I will cooperate with DECHEMA and offer three workshops regarding research data management. The first of these workshops was planned for June, but we decided to move it, to not be too close to other events. The introduction workshop will now be on 03.-04. September (online). The workshop will be in German, you can find more information and the registration here:

On another topic, from 01. to 02. April you can find me in Jena (Germany) at the Fellowship of the Data meeting. I am very much looking forward to a great meeting, and hope to meet some of you. Who will be there?

That is it for today. Thanks for reading, and see you next week.
