Welcome to the latest News Digest! Each week, I explore the latest developments in research data management, focusing specifically on natural sciences, and provide a concise overview. Let’s dive right in!
Funding continued for first round NFDI consortia
We start this week's News Digest with great news: the funding for the nine consortia of the first funding round will be continued until 2028. This includes the two natural science consortia of the first round, NFDI4Cat and NFDI4Chem. Congratulations to all nine consortia and keep up the great work. For all the RDM professionals out there, this could be a great opportunity to contact your researchers and let them (once again) know that the consortia of the NFDI are there to help them. For more details, check the article on the webpage of the NFDI.
Work-Life-Balance in science: Chance, challenges and tips
PUNCH4NFDI published a review of a panel discussion with the title: "Breaking barriers in physics, engineering & data science: Women leading, balancing and transforming science". As one part of the discussion, they took a closer look at the work-life-balance and support for scientists becoming parents and where institutions could improve. The panellists also collected tips and tricks for productivity, decision-making and development. Check out the full list in the article. I want to highlight one point from the list here: "Don't be afraid to ask for help!". I also had to learn this, and it is great advice. What do you think? Which arguments resonates the most with you? Or do you have some additional tips and tricks? Let me know in the comments.
Outro
That is it for today's News Digest. I just want to take the chance to remind you that in September I am offering a workshop on the basics of Research Data Management together with DECHEMA (in German). It is an online workshop and registration is already open. Sharing the information with your colleagues and scientists is very much appreciated.

Thanks for reading, and see you next week!
