Hey, so it is Friday, so we take a look at the past week. This time with news from NFDI4Chem about their RDM workshop as well as a new release of the Cheminformatic Microservice

NFDI4Chem – RDM Workshop

Directly on Monday, NFDI4Chem reported about a Successful RDM Workshop in Hannover. I was actually part of the trainer team of this workshop, and it really was a great workshop. In case you do not know, the NFDI4Chem offers a workshop with the title “FAIR Research Data Management: Basics for Chemists“, which is usually a two-day workshop but can be fitted to your time schedule. I was part of the workshop trainer team for the last two years, and if you are working in chemistry and want to get to know the basics of FAIR research data management explained with specific examples from your scientific field, I can highly recommend the workshop.

NFDI4Chem – Cheminformatic Microservice

The Cheminformatic Microservice is a really nice collection of useful tools for you to integrate into your web application and workflows. If you require some cheminformatic toolkits, this is a great solution. You could use, for example, the depict tool to automatically generate 2D- or 3D-structures for your applications or use convert to convert SMILES into InChI and much more. As a very basic example, I used the depict tool from the Cheminformatic Microservice hosted at Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena to generate the picture of Caffeine (see below). You definitely should check out the new release of the Cheminformatic Microservice and read the articles here.

That concludes today’s news. I’m delighted to observe the growing interest in The FAIR Elephant, and I’m thrilled to announce that on Monday, I’ll be launching a new series. For now, I’ll only share two hints: Electronic lab notebooks and a mysterious case! So, stay tuned!
