Welcome back, so let us take a look at the past week.

DAPHNE4NDFI – Annual Meeting

The annual meeting of DAPHNE4NFDI will take place on March 11th to March 13th in Dresden, and today is the last day of registration. Find more information about the meeting as well as the topics that will be discussed here. It is a great opportunity to learn more about the developments in DAPHNE4NFDI.

FAIRmat – CAMELS

FAIRmat released the version 1.0 of NOMAD CAMELS. NOMAD CAMELS is a software that allows easy and structured documentation of metadata for not standard experiments. CAMELS stands for Control Application of Measurements, Experiments and Laboratory Systems. So if you work in a lab where you maybe work on your own devices, have unique setups and so on, NOMAD CAMELS is an easy way to get to FAIR data without the need of a programming language. I strongly recommend going to the news update here, and checking out this tool. I haven’t had a chance to test it myself, but it sounds like a very useful tool, and I am looking forward to giving it a try. The first time I have learned about NOMAD CAMELS was at a workshop in September 2023. During this workshop, Alexander Fuchs gave an introduction to NOMAD CAMELS. You can find the slides to the 15-min talk on Zenodo, and more importantly, check out the recording on YouTube:

I am looking forward to learning more about this tool in the future.

NFDI4Chem – Report Community Workshop

For the NFDI consortia of the first round (you can find a list here), the first project phase is slowly but surely coming to an end, and they need to think about how to approach the proposal for the second funding phase. On Monday, NFDI4Chem invited to a community workshop to discuss exactly that: How to proceed in the future with NFDI4Chem. You can read the report here. For me, it is great to see that the theoretical chemistry community will probably be more actively involving itself. This was of course just a first discussion round and nothing is final yet, but I am excited to see in which direction NFDI4Chem will develop.

That is it for today, there were no new uploads to the Zenodo Communities of the NFDIs this week. On a personal note, I am thrilled to see, that The FAIR Elephant sparks some interest in the community, and I am looking forward to the future. I can also let you know that the second case of The Chemotion Files will be published in March. If you missed the first one, check it out here.

Until next time, and thank you for reading.
