FAIRmat
Recordings of the 8th user meeting
The recording of the 8th user meeting of FAIRmat are now available at the YouTube channel of FAIRmat. I have linked the playlist below and all the talks are worth having a look, but I want to highlight two of them which highlight new features/developments in NOMAD.

The first recording is a talk by Ahmed Ilyas, Sarthak Kapoor and Lev Ginzburg. They are demonstrating the new possibilities for automating research workflows with NOMAD Actions. After a brief introduction of what NOMAD Actions are, three use cases are demonstrated. So if you are working with NOMAD, I recommend checking out the talk, seems compelling to me.
The second recording I want to mention here is the talk by Sherjeel Shabih and Yaru Wang, discussing AI-assisted scientific data extraction. Demonstrating two systems, PERLA which can extract structured data from published articles, and SAND, which extracts structured data from audio (recordings). Ever want to speak with your electronic lab notebook (and have the information provided in a structure way) because you have no free hands in the lab? Well, time to check what the future holds with SAND.
NFDI4Cat
New access point to NFDI4Cat services: Personas
NFDI4Cat has a new way to easier find the services that are useful to you: Personas. There are seven different personas (Cats) defined, from LabCat to ProcessCat. So, if you are working in the field of catalysis, at least one of the seven personas (Cats) will fit your work. When you have found the fitting Cat(s), then you can browse the services overview. Here all services now marked with an icon if the service is relevant for a specific persona (Cat), check it out! Which Cat are you?

Digital transformation with a flying carpet
Hold on to your carpets, Samantha Pearman-Kanza is showing us A Whole New Lab, in her latest presentation published in Zenodo, discussing electronic lab notebooks (ELNs) and digital transformation. If you are interested in ELNs or provide teaching on the topic, you will not be disappointed. Great insights and great materials to reuse.

Ask The Elephant
This week, on Thursday morning, it is time for the second pilot session of Ask The Elephant, a monthly open discussion round organised by me. Join the community now and never miss a meeting. Ask The Elephant is a place where you (researcher or RDM professional) can discuss with other people from the field and discuss your open questions. This time the main topic will be gamification in teaching RDM, but we will see where we end up.
