News from NFDI & Friends – natural science – week 10
Welcome back to the weekly news overviews. In the last week, the news channels of the natural science consortia of NFDI were not too busy, but I have one update from the NFDI4Chem for you. As I mentioned previously, I aim to add more and more sources to these weekly overviews, since a lot is going on in the field of research data management in natural sciences. And the consortia of the NFDI in Germany are great and doing a fantastic job, but of course, they are not the only ones with the goal of improving RDM. So I am existed to let you know that from now on, I will also include news from PSDI. PSDI is the Physical Sciences Data Infrastructure in the UK. You can find more information in the PSDI section, but first let us start with the well known NFDIs:
NFDI4Chem- Collection of Repositories for chemists
When researchers want to publish their research data, there is always the question of where to publish the data. There are many different research data repositories, and it can be difficult to find the perfect fit for the data. NFDI4Chem has now added a curated collection of repositories to FAIRsharing.org. With this collection, it is easier for researchers to find trusted repositories without putting in extra time to ensure that the data is handled according to the FAIR principles. Check out the collections and read more about it here.
PSDI – About PSDI
Since it is the first time I include updates from PSDI (Physical Sciences Data Infrastructure) I want to provide you with some additional information and links. The goal of the PSDI in the UK is very similar to the goal of the natural science consortia of NFDI in Germany. PSDI will provide a data infrastructure that connects existing experimental and computational facilities within Physical Sciences and beyond. If you would like to learn more about PSDI, you can browse their website and check out this video:
PSDI – Articles about ELNs
Two articles about the challenges of establishing and using electronic lab notebooks in a lab were published in Lab Horizons magazine. The first article points out the challenges, whereas the second one shows an example of how to overcome these. So please don’t stop reading after the first article π
That is it for today, I hope with adding news beyond the NFDI in Germany, this news overview this getting more and more useful for you. If you know of other initiatives you would like to see covered here, please let me know.
Until next time, and thank you for reading.
