Welcome back to the weekly overview of news from the NFDI consortia in natural science. Today with FAIRmat and NFDI4Cat.
FAIRmat – Standard for Photoelectron Spectroscopy
FAIRmat is working on standardizing photoelectron spectroscopy data as well as the metadata, with the goal of being officially recognized and endorsed by the NeXus International Advicory Committee by September 2024. For everybody who is interested in learning more about the process behind getting to a standard, you should definitely check out the workshop information and materials here. It is great to see that the new developments will also be included in the material science data management system NOMAD.
NFDI4Cat – Call for Papers: AI and RDM
NFDI4Cat is informing about a call for papers on the topic of AI and RDM. Artificial inelegance is getting more and more important, and good research data management can boost these developments even further. If you want to contribute to the special issue, you can find more information here. I definitely marked July 1 in my calendar to not miss the publication of the special issue of Information Technology: Methods and Applications of Informatics and Information Technology.
NFDI4Cat – Paper Published
A paper published by Chacko, Gossler, Angeli and Deutschmann with the title Interconnected Digital Solutionsto Accelerate Modeling of the Reaction Kinetics in Catalysis discusses microkinetic modeling, the tools and workflows used and how automation can speed up the process. It is a very interesting article showing how FAIR research data management, can boost research and innovation, since standardized data and databases are crucial for the development of automations. Read more about it here.
That is it for today. Don’t forget to check out some of the events next week (during the Love Data Week). In case you missed it, I compiled a few lists, with interesting talks:
Events about electronic lab notebooks
Events about general introductions to research data management
Events about data management plans
See you next week.
