News from NFDI – natural science – week 07

Today I have news from MaRDI, NFDI4Cat, NFDI4Chem and PUNCH4NFDI, so let’s dive right into it.

MaRDI – Data Quest

For the Love Data Week 2024 MaRDI published a fun little game on research data management, where you are a person at a math conference and need to solve different quests to find all the hearts. I highly recommend checking it out (it only takes 5 minutes) and is a lot of fun. I think today is the last day, that you can play it (since it is the last day of the Love Data Week), so hurry up and check it out here. Can you beat my first try?

NFDI4Cat – Voc4Cat

NFDI4Cat is working on a vocabulary for catalysis and related fields, with the name Voc4Cat. In research data management, vocabularies are important for many different reasons, one is to ensure standardization and clear communication. The first terms they included are from photocatalysis, but more things are to come. Read more about it here.

NFDI4Chem – FAIR4Chem Award

Each year, chemists from Germany can apply with their published research data for the FAIR4Chem award. This year, the winner is Robin Lenz, with a database of RAMAN and ATR-IR spectra. Congratulations! Find out more about the winner and the database here. This is already the third FAIR4Chem award, in case you would like to know more about the past awardees, check this overview at the NFDI4Chem webpage.

PUNCH4NFDI – DPG Meetings

The Spring Meetings of the DPG (Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft e.V.) are right around the corner and PUNCH4NFDI will be at these meetings to present their resent works. If you are at the meetings, you should make sure to check out their events to learn more about the work of PUNCH4NFDI. One talk I find particular interesting has the title Citizen Science in Data-Intensive Physics: PUNCH4NFDI Perspective by Victoria Tokareva, check out the full list here.

That is it for today. These news overviews are intended to be short and sweet, to keep up with the newest developments. Until now, I only checked the webpages of the consortia to provide you with new information, from next week onwards, I will also include other sources. So stay tuned for next week! Also, remember that it is still the Love Data Week and there are some very interesting events coming up today, so check the program here.

Until next time, thank you for reading.
