NFDI consortia news – week 02
In this weekly update, I take a look at the news from the NFDI consortia in natural science of the past week.
Today we have news from the consortia FAIRmat and NFDI4Chem. Let’s start with FAIRmat:
FAIRmat published a series of invited talks from their third FAIRmat user meeting on YouTube (four talks, each around 20 min). I think they are all worth a watch, but I want to point to two of these talks.
First, the talk NFDI and good practice in research data management – a funder’s perspective by Michael Mößle (DFG). In case you are not too familiar with the NFDI and the different consortia, this can be a good introduction. Michael Mößle goes into more detail about the DFG and research data management and also reminds researchers who apply for funding from the DFG, that additional funding for research data management can be requested in the application (video). For more information about which costs can be covered within an application, see here.
The second talk I want to mention here is the talk Introduction to FAIRmat by José A. Márquez. It is a good introduction to FAIRmat and their goals. In the presentation, it is mentioned that making data FAIR also means making data AI ready. During the talk, José A. Márquez shows how FAIRmat is using NOMAD to make this possible and gives an example where data from the NOMAD repository was used for new research (video).
It is a great video series, check it out at the news page from FAIRmat directly here.
The other news published this week, are from NFDI4Chem. They are presenting the research data repository RADAR4Chem. RADAR4Chem is a more general repository for research data from chemistry. It is free to use and hosted in Germany. If you are looking for a repository for your chemistry related data, check out the article here.
That is it for today, see you next week.
