News Digest – RDM in Natural Science: Week 17

Welcome back, good to see you here.

NFDI4Chem – Interview FAIR4Chem Awardee

NFDI4Chem is continuing their interview series. This time with this year’s FAIR4Chem awardee Robin Lenz. He is talking about the reasons why he started managing his data in a FAIR way, and he points out that the person who is getting the most out of making your data FAIR is yourself. You can read the full interview here. In case you are not familiar with the FAIR4Chem Award or want the to check out the past winners, check the NFDI4Chem webpage. I also want to mention, hat Robin Lenz will be giving a talk at the NFDI4Chem Stammtisch in May. After the very interesting interview, I really look forward to the talk. By the way, today, April 26th, is also a NFDI4Chem Stammtisch, with Matthias Arnold with the title: LADS – Laboratory and Device Standards.

PUNCH4NFDI – PUNCH_ASTRO: compute resource for testing and benchmarking

There is great news for the astrophysics community in Germany. With the project PUNCH_ASTRO, PUNCH4NFDI is offering the possibility to test and benchmark your simulation codes on a supercomputer. This is specially useful for researchers that want to test and benchmark their codes before applying for computing time at HPC centres. This service is free of charge and a great support for the community! Read more about it here.

Zenodo uploads:

In the past week, there were two new uploads to Zenodo.

NFDI4Chem

A new version of LabIMotion was published. For more information on the software LabIMotion see the official documentation.

PSDI

The slides of a talk by Professor Jeremy Frey were published. They talk was about data in scientific research and why it is important, the work of the PSDI as well as the company Data Revival.

Outro

I want to take the chance to also point you to one workshop, that is also happening today: the workshop: FAIR Data Principles in Physical Science in NFDI. During the workshop, different use cases will be presented. Unfortunately, it overlaps a little bit with the already mentioned NFDI4Chem Stammtisch. I am looking forward to joining both of these events, maybe you will also be there. So that is it for today, ss always, thanks for reading and until next time!
